Sometimes a thing we believe is meant for one purpose, turns out to be for another entirely. This has been true for me multiple times in the past few years, but the instance I’m writing about involves a cross-country journey and a chance meeting. Now, over three years later, that meeting has brought me on an unbelievable path, through amazing encounters with incredibly talented writers who I now count as friends.
I had no intention of starting a podcast when I met Rebecca Yauger at the Rubart Writing Academy. One day I joked about it, saying, “We should do something and call it, ‘Rebecca and Rebecca’.” Who knew, we’d almost be at the end of our third season, getting ready to record our fiftieth episode!
We started small – one episode a month: a review, then an interview. We picked up the pace a little over a year in, moving to two episodes a month to spotlight one book by one author.

This year, we reviewed our first book written by a male author, reviewed our first novellas (coming in November), scheduled our first Australian author for December, and going live next Wednesday on October 30th, an interview with multiple authors (5 in all) for our first series review.
We reviewed Chasing Fire: Montana a series that sprang from the creative minds of Susan May Warren and Lisa Phillips published by Sunrise Publishing in a 6 book, 5 author binge-able format that released a few weeks apart over the course of the summer 2024. Each book is a standalone, but carries a small mystery thread that flows through each book and culminates in book 6.
The best part is that many of the characters are pulled from previous Warren/Phillips worlds like Montana Fire, Benson First Responders, and Last Chance County, so for those of us who love easter eggs and connected bookverses, this series was a chance to test your memory and knowledge of previous stories.

Whether you’ve never checked out our podcast/YouTube Channel before, or whether you’re a regular listened, I encourage you not to miss the October episodes. We had so much fun reviewing these books, then chatting with authors, Susan May Warren, Lisa Phillips, Kate Angelo, Megan Besing, and Michelle Sass Aleckson about what it was like to write as part of a large team and the way they chose to develop their stories.
We also got the scoop on the next collaborative project this crew is undertaking we need to be on the lookout for next summer. Please consider share this blog with anyone you know who enjoys bookish podcasts.
Check out Sunrise Publishing to keep up on all the great things they’re doing over there, too, as we love to support the authors who take time to appear on our show.
