This new category of mine will most likely be underused. I rarely watch, let alone, go to the theater to watch, movies. But recently, my husband and I took a little time off to see Overcomer.
I had several friends recommend seeing it. As a track coach, I identified with the difficulties presented with teams and the lack of a team, but you don’t have to enjoy running to like this movie, as a matter of fact, non-runners may enjoy it more.
Deb Raney published a wonderful blog about the movie, too. Access her blog here. I just have to say that I wholeheartedly encourage you to go see this movie if you haven’t already. It was uplifting and encouraging while sad and real. I cried. I laughed. It captured my emotions. The cinematography was beautiful and well done.
The big question of the movie: Who are you? Beneath all the layers, what defines you? This, I believe, is a question each one of us needs to answer for ourselves. If you are a Christian, as is the coach in this movie, does God have first priority in your life? Sadly, I can say that the answer is, not always. But, this is a change I plan to make. I want God to have my heart. I want to be known as a Child of God, first, and everything else, second.
Will you join me in making this your priority, too? If you already have, I’d love to hear ways you accomplish this. Please comment and if you haven’t already, follow this blog.
