If you’re looking for hope-infused fiction, look no further!
More than Survivors contains 3 novellas that feature 3 different sets of characters facing 3 different struggles, 3 different healing journeys with the same faith, the same eternal God, the same search for peace and forgiveness that we all face as we live out our own journeys in this world.
Whether you’re a fan of historical or contemporary fiction, these stories bridge genres in their embrace of the search for truth common to all eras. They are for readers seeking not to ignore or simply escape the difficulties that exist, but to find practical paths by which to navigate trials when they inevitably come.

Fiction as learning tool
Those who say one cannot learn from fiction have never read Jesus’ words in the gospels. That he taught using parables is proof that story is a valuable tool toward approaching truth and life lessons. Stories allow our brains to absorb difficult ideas in more palatable ways and then apply those ways of thinking and acting into our day-to-day living. When trouble comes, we resort to well-used synapses for quick judgements. If we have established ways of treating recurring or small-scale problems, those are the go-to reactions for unforeseen or seemingly insurmountable obstacles as well. This argument suggests spending time reading fiction that deals with gritty subjects and knotty problems overcome using faith and Biblical principles could well serve us when we encounter weighty issues of our own.
None of these stories is flippant or suggests issues such as marital strife, trauma, or addiction can be zapped into submission by an application of prayer, hope, or faith. They feature real struggles, set-backs, and fears. The characters lose hope, want to quit, and slide into despair. They need outside help from friends, family, and professionals who not only pray and share truth, but also confront their physical needs. These are not Bible-thumping, in-your-face religious stories, but rather compassionate, grace-filled looks inside addiction and trauma, and the scars and unhealed wounds left behind that drive the characters’ behaviors, reactions, and coping mechanisms.
Most of all, the hope of healing, the idea that no one is disposable, that everything created or ordained by God is worth saving runs through all three stories. Though told by three different authors with three different styles, each novella will transport you to a place where trials are endured through hope and darkness is conquered by light. They illuminate the unquenchable, eternal passion of Jesus Christ for humanity.
